Disneyland Isn't for Sissies!

We just got back from our long awaited vacation to Disneyland. I think we picked the hottest week of the summer to go. It was 114 in Vacaville when we left and it was 99 with 67% humidity in Anaheim. It's about a seven hour drive from our house, done with the windows rolled up, the air conditioner blasting and the gas blowing out the tail pipe!

When we got there we checked into our hotel and went to Downtown Disney to have dinner at Naples. We had very expensive nasty tasting pizza. The highlight of that night was getting to listen to Drew Tretick, . He is an amazing musician that plays the electric violin.

On Monday we drove to San Diego to go to Sea World. Hot and steamy again. We also got rained on at one of the shows. Mike wanted to leave the show, but I didn't want to because we were going to get wet whether we were inside or outside the stadium. We went out to El Cajon to have dinner with my sister and brother-in-law and had a really nice visit with them. We didn't get back to our hotel until midnight.

Tuesday we slept in a little and then went to California Adventure Park. We were standing in line to ride Soarin Over California, when suddenly my back went into spasms. We rode the ride but by the time we were done I was in extreme pain. I left my family to enjoy the park and went back to the hotel and took a muscle relaxer. It knocked me out and I slept most of the day.

Wednesday and Thursday I was able to go to Disneyland with my family even though I was still sore. We did lots of walking and had a great time. I told my DH that I think this should be our last trip to Disneyland. I have never worked so hard having a good time in my life. I think we need to stick to winery tours!

Italy on my Mind!

My darling hubby and I have always talked about taking a wonderful trip when we have been married 25 years. About a month ago we were discussing the fact that we will be married 10 years this coming March. I suddenly looked at him and said, "Do you realize when we've been married 25 years, that you will be 75 and I will be 70?" "We might not feel like taking a big trip at that age!" Well we got right on it and got creative with our money and we are going to Italy next summer. I know it's a long time until next June, but I am so excited and thrilled about even the planning that I'm almost beside myself.

We've been looking at the possiblities of this trip, from planning everything ourselves and going independantly, or going on an organized tour. Our biggest fear of going independantly is that we will spend too much time each day with the "what do you want to do syndrome". We are starting to think that we are probably the organized tour kind of people. We've been researching different tour companies like, Rick Steves' Europe Through the Back Door, Insight tours, Globus tours, and Trafalger. The one we would really like to take is Rick Steves, but we just can't afford that one. I think we will be booking through AAA and going on an Insight tour. They cover a lot of stuff. Just thinking about seeing the Sistine Chapel, Michaelangelo's David and the Pieta, Florence and Venice gives me the chills.

I also bought a language program in Italian and DH and I plan on learning as much of the language as we can before we go. I'll keep you updated on everything as we go along.
