Well, I know I'm going to sound like a cranky old woman but please indulge me. Monday night my DH wanted to go to the movies and out to dinner. He got home from work, changed his clothes and away we went.
When we got to the theater we noticed that the price of a matinee had gone up again. It was $7.25 so that made it $14.50 for the two of us. Once we got inside, DH decided that he needed popcorn so he got a combo that had a large popcorn, 1 large drink and a little bag of M&M peanuts. That little goodie bag cost us $15.00. Ok, so now we are armed and ready for the show. Just before the movie started an employee of the theater came in and reminded everyone to turn off their cell phones. Don't answer your cell phone and no texting. If you have a screaming child take them out.
We said thank you and he left.
Four teenagers came and sat right in front of us and they watched the previews quietly and intently. Then the movie started. Imediatly, one of the girls pulled out her cell phone, flipped it open, lighting up the immediate area and started texting! I don't like confrontations, so I gritted my teeth. About the sixth time she did though, Ruth started to come out. I leaned over to my husband and said, "Kick her will you!" He politely asked her to stop it and I was amazed that she complied for the rest of the movie.
After the movie, we went over to Chilli's for something to eat. We got there about 8:00pm and they weren't very busy but for some curious reason we had to wait. When they showed us to our table, they seated us right next to a table of 8 teenagers that must have been raised by wolves! They were making so much noise that my husband and I could not carry on a conversation across the table. Again, I was trying hard not to channel my inner Ruth, so I didn't demand a new table (but I should have).
We looked over the menu and I decided on a bowl of Potato Soup while DH had Chilli. We also ordered an appetizer to share that consisted of 4 mini burgers with onion strings. The waitress brought our soup and chilli before the appetizer and when I looked at my soup I was surprised to see it almost overflowing the bowl. I tried a bite. It was lukewarm-yeech! Anyone that knows me knows I like my food hot temperture wise. I started poking around in the bowl because something didn't look right. The potatoes were all clumped together in a very unappetizing lump signaling that I probably got the last helping from the bottom of the pot. I kept poking and came up with broccoli! Now since they also had Cream of Broccoli soup on the menu, I can only surmise that they combined the last of both pots to get my bowl of soup. I was throughly disgusted by now and when the waitress came back and asked the infamous "Is everything alright?" I said I didn't know broccoli was in Cream of Potato soup. She said, in a very nasty tone of voice, "Well, that's what they gave me!" Then she asked if I wanted another bowl. I should have asked for the manager at that point but I didn't. I declined anything else and I pushed the soup away. At that point I told DH that if he gave her a tip I would whip him when we got home. She didn't get a tip.
We will be buying our movies from now on and I think I will enjoy cooking at home.
