Mackinaw Island continued. Our first stop on the tour was the Butterfly Conservatory. This was a really cool place. We all enjoyed the many different kinds of butterflies. I kept trying to get a picture of this butterfly that when its wings were closed it was brown. With the wings open, it was a brilliant blue.
This was outside the Butterfly Conservatory.
Our next stop was the fort. It was very interesting. By that time, it was getting pretty warm and we decided to have lunch at the Tea House at the fort. We sat out on the deck overlooking the harbor and it was really a nice time.
When we were on the porch of the Grand Hotel it started thundering and raining. We walked back into town and got some ice cream and took shelter in a hallway between stores. We decided we would make our way back to the ferry pier and go back to Mackinaw City. When we got back to the ferry pier we had to wait for them to clean our ferry because it had just arrived with six horses and the horses did what horses do... By the time we got back to Mackinaw City the weather had cleared up so we went letterboxing and then to the Embers Restaurant across from the hotel for dinner. We went to bed early because we had a long drive the next day.
